645 Ventures, a NYC-based early-stage venture capital firm, has promoted Jonathan Smith to Principal.

Smith’s promotion reflects the key role that he has played in building the firm’s San Francisco office, which launched in 2021. He joined the firm in 2021 after graduating from Harvard Business School, during which time he first worked at 645 as a venture fellow and intern.

He has helped the firm expand its presence in San Francisco, reflected in a growing portfolio of companies and an expanded network. Jonathan Smith has led and worked on investments in healthcare, fintech, and proptech, including portfolio companies Setpoint, ECL, Upside, InpharmD, and Aryeo (acquired by Zillow).
