Matter Venture Partners Closes First Hardtech Fund, at $300M 

Matter Venture Partners, a Manhattan Beach, California-based hard tech venture capital firm, closed its first fund, at $300m. 

Backers included Kleiner LP, TSMC, individuals, entrepreneurs and family offices.

Led by former Kleiner Perkins investors Wen Hsieh and Haomiao Huang, as well as operating partner Mel Tang, who are all LPs in the fund, Matter Venture Partners focus on investing on HardTech startups driving innovation in artificial intelligence, robotics, electrification (of everything), and more.

The website lists three startups as part of the portfolio, namely LuxVue, Lightforce and Ambiq, and other six companies in stealth. In total, the firm plans to make investments in 15 to 20 companies with the new vehicle.
