World Fund Closes €300M First Fund

World Fund, a Berlin, Germany-based climate tech venture capital firm, closed a €300M first fund.

Backers included EIF, KfW Capital, Wachstumsfonds, BPI France, PwC Germany, NRWbank and Ignitis Group, a number of pension funds including the UK Environment Agency Pension Fund, Wiltshire Pension Fund, Erste Plavi, and Ecosia.

This capital will enable the team to make 25-30 investments into European startups building technologies with the potential to decarbonise entire industries such as energy, buildings, manufacturing, transport, food, agriculture, and land use.

Founded in 2021 by Daria Saharova, Danijel Višević, Tim Schumacher and Craig Douglas, World Fund is investing in scalable businesses with climate performance potential (CPP). The firm has already backed 15 companies including IQM Quantum Computers, Space Forge, Planet A Foods, Juicy Marbles and ENOUGH Foods. Other investments include those into battery manufacturer CustomCells, recycling company Cylib, and proptech startups aedifion and ecoworks.

World Fund has offices in Berlin, Munich, Cologne and Amsterdam.
