Cedar Capital Holds First Close of Fund, At $30M

Cedar Capital, a Mumbai, India-based fintech venture capital firm, held the first close of its early-stage fund, at $30m.

LPs included family offices and institutional investors from India and the Middle East.

The fund plans to build a portfolio of 15-20 companies with a focus on the BankTech and B2B FinTech space making initial investments ranging $500k-1m in 15 startups in their Seed-Series A rounds. The fund will also invest in follow-on rounds of winner portfolio companies.

Founded by global consulting and research group Cedar and global FinTech market intelligence firm IBS Intelligence, and led by Managing Partner Sahil Anand, Cedar Capital will also provide support beyond capital giving startups the opportunity to access to in-house FinTech strategy experts, global networks and offices, data sandboxes, a wide global banking network, etc.

The investment areas include:

  • BankTech/Banking software
  • B2B FinTech/SME Solutions/SaaS
  • B2C/Personal Finance

In addition to Anand, the team includes Subit Saurav, and Sunny Desa.
