Luxembourg-based private equity firm NewSpace Capital announced the appointment of Anne Canel as independent director to the board.
Canel brings more than 25 years of experience across private equity, corporate finance, advisory and sustainable development, and will support NewSpace in its work investing in growth-stage companies across the space technology ecosystem.
Canel, a graduate from Sciences Po in Paris and the French national military academy at Saint Cyr, holds a number of independent director roles, including at banks, insurance firms, and PE actors in clean energy and industrial technology. Her current roles include non-executive board member at Banque ING Luxembourg as well as Private Equity funds and family holdings. Canel is a qualified chartered accountant, certified in risk management from ICHEC Brussels and leadership from MIT.
Led by Bogdan Gogulan, CEO and Managing Partner, NewSpace Capital backs founders and entrepreneurs across the space supply chain and downstream applications. The firm’s portfolio companies include global deep-tech company Cailabs, leaders in laser communications; ICEYE, which owns and operates the world’s largest constellation of synthetic aperture radar satellites; and Kayrros, the global environmental intelligence company recently named one of the world’s 100 Most Influential by TIME.
The firm counts a number of space tech leaders among its portfolio companies. Its team, which has over 150 years of collective industry experience across space tech and finance, focuses on areas such as the building and manufacture of components, broadcasting and telecommunication, earth observation, and navigation.
