CoinFund Appoints Dmitry Lapidus as Senior Liquid Analyst

CoinFund, a New York-based crypto-native investment firm and registered investment adviser, appointed Hong Kong-based Dmitry Lapidus as Senior Liquid Analyst to deepen analysis of liquid opportunities globally.

In this new role, Lapidus will help CoinFund continue to expand its global reach and expertise by tapping into his deep knowledge and network of crypto founders and protocols, while driving on-the-ground engagement for CoinFund throughout Asia-Pacific. He will also advise portfolio companies as they navigate local market entry. This appointment further underscores the position of CoinFund’s investment team at the convergence of traditional finance and cryptonative experience, led by founder-friendly investors and technologists.

Lapidus brings more than a decade of experience investing and living in APAC, including in Hong Kong and Singapore. His traditional equities career spans roles investing in emerging markets as an investor at Prince Street Capital Management, and as an investment analyst in Asian equities for both Old Mutual Global Investors and BlackRock. Most recently, Lapidus served as an investment partner at Dragonfly Capital, a crypto-focused investment firm. Dmitry holds a Bachelor of Science, Government and Economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).

Lapidus will join CoinFund’s Liquid Investment team led by Managing Partner Seth Ginns as the firm furthers its mission to champion the leaders of the new internet.

His appointment comes after the recent close of $158M Seed Fund IV. Backed by a combination of sophisticated institutional investors, family offices, and high net worth individuals, CoinFund Seed IV LP will support pre-seed and seed stage investments in founding teams across the web3 ecosystem. Latest backed companies include Cloudburst Technologies’ cyberthreat intelligence for digital currency fraud; ML compute protocol Gensyn; Giza, an AI platform for smart contracts and web3 protocols; Cosmos layer 1 blockchain Neutron; and Robert Leshner’s Superstate, building blockchain-based financial products.

Founded in 2015 by Highbridge Capital Management and Amazon alum Jake Brukhman, and later joined by co-founder and American Capital alum Alex Felix, CoinFund is now supported by an interdisciplinary global team of nearly 30 people with more than 100 investments across six investment vehicles.

The investment team focused on deploying this capital into seed-stage deals is led by Managing Partners Jake Brukhman (focus areas currently include decentralization technologies and infrastructure, AI x web3); Alex Felix (marketplaces, infrastructure, financial services); Seth Ginns (cross-vertical liquid investing); David Pakman (NFTs, consumer, infrastructure) and Chris Perkins (financial convergence, tokenization, CeFi.) The Investment team includes Vangelis Andrikopolous, Austin Barack, Einar Braathen, Evan Feng, Christian Murray, Rishin Sharma and Isaiah Washington. Areas of expertise include ZK/ML/AI; DeFi; Layer 2s; consumer services, gaming, NFTs and DAOs; infrastructure including nodes, security, analytics, middleware, interoperability and scalability, and emerging markets.
